Rick Madrigal just wanted to take care of the lawn. It was the most pristine front lawn at any high school in the damn state. And, along with his son, it was his pride and joy. But Corridor High School didn’t need his groundskeeping skills. After supplies go missing from the chemistry lab, they need him to investigate. And after getting sucked into a web of deception, Rick would soon find out there are some messes too big even for him to clean up.


Brett Herrmann was born and raised in Spring Valley, Ill. He attended Illinois Valley Community College before studying creative writing at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where he graduated in 2015. He currently works as a writer for Kishwaukee College in Malta, Ill. and previously worked as a reporter and editor for the La Salle News Tribune and as a Public Information Specialist for Rend Lake College in Southern Illinois. Along with a background in writing both fiction and non-fiction, he has worked extensively in the fried chicken business.
