The Department of Transport (DOT) in USA has a pre-requisite requirement of people with Commercial Driver License (CDL) to perform pre-employment, random, and post-accident, under reasonable suspicion or return to work alcohol and drug tests.

As an employee that is performing safety sensitive functions in the transportation industry, your responsibility is to create a safe work environment for your co-workers along with the travelling public. Any individual who fails the alcohol or drugs test is engaged with a qualified SAP who will in turn give a detailed SAP assessment one-on-one, a medical evaluation, and a recommended treatment course.

You are probably here because of a DOT alcohol or drug violation. You must successfully complete SAP abuse evaluations before you can return to a DOT safety position. Once Affordable Evaluations SAP determines that your treatment is successful, the report of compliance is sent to the employer. The future employer will then order a return to work test, which must be negative.

Post Substance Evaluation

DOT drug testing has been designed to identify risks to safety. In the eyes of your employer, you may still pose as a risk. After the SAP abuse assessment, the employer decides whether he wants to offer the individual a return to duty test or not. The individual may be employed after the test as per the written policy of the company. If the employer decided to hire you after the negative return to duty DOT drug screening, a follow up testing will be done under the supervision of your appointed SAP. In the first year, the employee is subjected to 6 unannounced follow-up tests. Your Affordable Evaluations SAP can conduct any number of tests for you for the period required by your employer.
