• 3-4 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)

For the Assembly:
• 4-5 slices of bread (white or brown)

Instructions:
• In a small bowl, mix the custard powder with 1/4 cup of cold milk until smooth.
• In a saucepan, heat the remaining 1 3/4 cups of milk over medium heat.
• Add sugar and stir until it dissolves.
• Add the cocoa powder to the milk and whisk until well combined.
• Once the milk starts to simmer, add the custard powder mixture, stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
• Continue to cook the mixture on low heat, stirring continuously, until it thickens to a custard-like consistency.
• Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla essence. Let it cool slightly.
• If you prefer toasted bread, lightly butter the bread slices and toast them in a pan until golden brown on both sides.
• Cut the bread slices into small cubes or strips.
• In a serving dish or individual bowls, place a layer of the bread pieces.
• Pour a layer of the chocolate custard over the bread, ensuring it covers the bread pieces well.
• Repeat the layers until all the bread and custard are used up, finishing with a layer of custard on top.
• If desired, garnish with chopped nuts, chocolate chips, or grated chocolate.
