The last thing any consumer wants to come across is a lemon car. This is because to get the deserving remedy, one has to go through time-consuming court hearings. And above all, many people have misunderstood the concept of lemon law, which is totally understandable because not all the information on the internet is accurate.

So, to give you a bit of relief from all the common misconceptions floating on the internet and talked by people, here is a debunked list of four common lemon law myths.

1- You need X amounts of repairs and Y amount of days your car must be at the repair shop to qualify.

The truth: This myth isn't surprising at all; even professionals get confused as every state's lemon law varies slightly. Well, there is a rule that your car must have gone through reasonable repair attempts, but if the vehicle possesses a defect that can harm you or others like a fire, then you do not need to wait for four repair attempts or 30 days at the repair shop. Safety issues can require fewer repair attempts than non-safety issues.

2- You have waited longer, or the vehicle has too many miles on it to qualify for the lemon law.

The truth: The statute of limitations (SOL) for filing the claim depends upon the state's law. Some state offers two years or four years from the date you knew or should have known that your car was a lemon. Even if a car has 120,000 miles on it but has a five-year powertrain warranty along with a four-year SOL, then still the car can qualify as a lemon.

3- You do not have copies of the repair orders, so you cannot apply for the lemon law case.

The truth: Well, documents are necessary to create a strong base for the case. But not having repair receipts does not mean you cannot file the lemon law. The dealership where you take your car for repair usually keeps the records of every vehicle for years. They will provide you with the same on request.

4- It isn't worthy of filing the lemon law claim against the manufacturer.

The truth: Many people think that lemon law requires a lot of work. Well, surely it does, but when you have a reliable attorney by your side, you may not need to do anything other than submitting the documents and being present during the trial under lemon law in Louisiana.
