What To Know About Range Rover Discovery Sports Car And Engine

The third generation of Land Rover's small SUV, the Discovery Sport, took the place of the Freelander.

Although the Freelander model line had been a successful means for Land Rover to enter the medium SUV market, the business believed that the Discovery brand was more prestigious and that memories of unreliability tarnished the Freelander brand.

Engine

The Ford EcoBoost four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which produces 240 PS (180 kW; 240 hp) (the only engine option for North America), and the Ford Duratorq four-cylinder 2.2-liter turbocharged diesel engine, which produces either 150 PS (110 kW; 150 hp) or 190 PS, were initially used to power the range rover 2.0 discovery sport engine for the first model year (140 kW; 190 hp).

From late 2015, engines from Jaguar Land Rover's new Ingenium engine series took the place of the Ford-sourced engines. The Ingenium family comprises modular, four-cylinder, turbocharged engines with individual 500cc cylinders with a 2.0-litre capacity. The family is offered in both gasoline and diesel versions, and depending on demand and requirements, it may be produced in future 3, 4, and 6-cylinder options. The series was intended to support various hybrid power systems, and a plug-in hybrid model was anticipated.

The Ingenium engine lineup may be set up to produce multiple power levels. The most fuel-efficient Discovery Sport eD4 model is powered by a 150 PS (110 kW; 150 horsepower) 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine in a front-wheel-drive-only configuration. This vehicle is anticipated to emit 119 g/km of CO2 while achieving a fuel economy of up to 24.2 km/L (68 mpg Imp; 57 mpg US).

The Discovery Sport has more interior room thanks to the transverse mounting of the engines.

Body

With a curb weight of 1,670 kg (3,680 lb), an aluminium bonnet and roof, and a composite one-piece tailgate, the Evoque uses unibody construction instead of the body on the frame.

Range Rover gives most models a "designer choice" of predetermined combinations. Still, the Evoque is available in 12 different body colours, three optional contrasting roof colours, and five alternative wheel designs. The bodywork on the Dynamic model is more aggressive and features a new front fascia and reduced suspension.

The Evoque can have five external cameras installed.

Do you need to buy one?

It appears that there will continue to be buyers for the Evoque. The costly baby Range Rover has always found buyers; the SUVs are sometimes judged by their size-to-price ratio simply because it is so attractive. Naturally, this hasn't altered in the slightest, and inside, it still feels just as opulent as a full-size Range Rover. The new car’s interior has a more contemporary feel thanks to the new touchscreen system, which also addresses our one serious complaint about the previous model's interior. The new engine will undoubtedly demonstrate its benefits in terms of performance and fuel efficiency, and it feels noticeably smoother and more polished. Of course, JLR is now ready if the government again places limitations on sub-2,000cc diesel engines.

The gearbox might need a little more finesse, but this is a fantastic and incredibly stylish package overall. The car comes with the best range rover diesel engine.
