Octopus Energy Tariffs
There are 3 main Octopus tariffs that you can choose from between: fixed 12 months , a variable tracker and a Super Green, which offsets gas, too. Octopus also has several specialist tariffs. Its Go tariff that is designed for electric vehicle drivers, offering cheap electric for 5p/kWh for four hours per night.
The Agile Octopus tariff, which I will be signing up to gives customers access to 30min energy prices based on the wholesale energy market at the time. Prices are updated daily and customers receive a different unit rate for every half hour of the next 24 hrs. It means you can maximise energy usage when prices are the cheapest which will work for us as we hope to get an electric car at some point.

Octopus Energy Smart meters are the next-generation way of monitoring your household energy consumption and the Government are keen to rollout the new meters as they offer a number of benefits over the standard credit meters, which are becoming redundant now. The main benefit is the ability for the meter to automatically send real-time information to your energy provider which ensures you will get the most accurate bill! You also have a wireless in-home display monitor provided, so you can see real time usage and costs. It may surprise you how much energy your home uses and allow you to save energy with this new information at hand and allow you to stay green!
