These changes will allow visitors to engage in business activities, including working with clients and remotely conducting work in the country. British and International Branches
Employees of companies with both British and international branches can participate in client work abroad, provided that it comprises a small component of their responsibilities. The work should also be essential for a service or project conducted by their UK branch. It should not involve providing services to a UK client by an international employer. Even though visitors can work from the UK, the primary purpose for their stay should not be to work remotely.
Academics, Scientists, and Researchers
Academics, scientists, and researchers can conduct research in the UK. However, the rule does not apply to academics seeking to extend their permission within the country or applying for a one-year visit visa. On the other hand, lawyers have the freedom to engage in various activities, including providing legal advice, serving as expert witnesses, participating in legal proceedings, and teaching.
Permitted Paid Engagement
The Permitted Paid Engagement (PPE) Visitor route that allows individuals to participate in paid activities without requiring a separate visa will now be integrated into the Standard Visitor route. The update simplifies the process and provides added flexibility for individuals seeking to engage in paid activities during their visit. Those involved in paid engagements can conveniently plan their activities within 30 days of arrival, eliminating the need for an additional visa.
Business Visitor Rules
The UK government plans to expand business visitor rules, allowing entrepreneurs to engage in paid engagements and other activities starting January 2024. Further reforms to the business visitor rules will also be explored in 2024.
