Glen R. Cook’s life experiences form the foundation of his book. Born in 1952, Cook began his journey in service after graduating high school in 1971 and being drafted into the United States Navy in 1972. Following the advice of his World War II veteran uncles, he joined the Navy, where he served for 22 years. Sixteen of those years were spent aboard five destroyers, where Cook earned six Battle “E” awards, studied firefighting and damage control, and visited 35 countries.
Cook’s naval career allowed him to build an extensive skill set, including earning two associate degrees in electronics and network operations. After retiring from the Navy, he transitioned to civilian service with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), where he worked for 18 years.
