Pulmonary Disease Treatment

PDT is an inflammatory lung disease that causes obstructed airflow from the lungs. Symptoms include breathing difficulty, cough, mucus (sputum) production, and wheezing. Lung disease can be caused by infection, smoking, or living in secondhand smoke, radon, asbestos, or other forms of air pollution. Lung diseases include asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pulmonary fibrosis, pneumonia, and lung cancer. Pulmonary Function Testing is available in our office. The lung function test measures the amount of air taken in and released by the lungs and how gases such as oxygen are transported into the bloodstream.

It consists of three components: spirometry, lung volume, and diffusion capacity. Spirometry - measure airflow. Lung Volume - Measures the power of the lungs. Emissive Capacity - A measure of the rate of oxygen transfer from air into the bloodstream through the lungs. In the final phase of the test, the patient is asked to inhale a harmless gas briefly. The gas concentration in the exhaled air is measured. The difference in the amount of gas the patient inhales versus exhalation measures the amount of effective gas movement from the lungs into the blood. This disease is one of the most dangerous ones, and it needs to be treated within time. A slight mistake can be fatal.
