GoAirborne,the first-ever competition standard indoor skydiving facility in Macau isdelighted to announcethattheir Brand Ambassador Kyra PohandChief InstructorTomsIvans, wonthe Goldand Bronze medalsatthe Indoor Skydiving - Solo Freestyle events(Open Category)at the4th FAI World Cup of Indoor Skydiving2022 (WCIS) respectively, while Toms also won anotherSilver Medal at the2ndFAI European Indoor Skydiving Championships (EISC) held between 5th April to 10th April at Charleroi, Belgium.

Organised by the FAI Skydiving Commission (ISC), the annual world-class competitions were hosted at AIRSPACE Indoor Skydivingin Charleroi, South of Brussels, Belgium. This year,about 400 elite skydiving athletes from around the world gatheredto compete for themost prestigious titles in the flying world in three categories:“Formation Skydiving”, “Dynamic Skydiving”, and “Freestyle”.

Freestyle is a solo discipline with five rounds of performances. Athletes would be doing three rounds of free routines to music and two rounds of compulsory to allow judges to review the overall performance according to their execution of sequences, technicality, skills and fluency.Well-known for their incredible body flying stunts,Kyra and Toms impressed the crowd by demonstrating the perfect balance of creativity, beauty, complexity, and compositions of tricks along with the music in their freestyle routines. The two round compulsory routines were also flawlessly completed in various sequences and choreography.Kyra and Toms both topped out among 19 competitors worldwide in WCIS with their outstanding performances. Kyra won the Champion in the WCIS’s Indoor Solo Freestyle Open with 73.6 points after finishing above Poland's Maja Kuczynska, while Toms won 3rd place in the event with 71.9 points.Following the success in WCIS, Toms outdo himself on the journey by winning another Silver Medal in the Solo Freestyle Open at EISC, coming in ahead of Germany’s Rafael Schwaiger and Laurie Lubbe from France.
With over ten years of skydiving experience, the 20-year-old indoor skydiver KyraPohhas been flying in the wind tunnel for over half of her life and has wonan impressive list of gold medals andtitles from different global competitions since 2016. She is also a multipleGuinness World Records holder, highlight records include “Most number of 2-way hula hoops fly through (49 in a minute)”, “Most number of 2-way reverse Eagles (26 in a minute)” and “Most number of backwards somersault (68 in a minute)”. At the age of 14, she won the solo speed and freestyle categories at The Wind Games 2017, one of the sport’s biggestcompetitions, and was crowned the “World’s Fastest Flyer”. Kyra was also appointed by Red Bull to be their exclusive Red Bull Athlete in Singapore and the PASSION Ambassador for the Singapore Tourism Board. To pursue her passion for indoor skydiving, she is currently coaching younger indoor skydiversaround the world and will also involve in relevant training events as a Brand Ambassador of GoAirborne.

Following her outstanding achievements at the competition, Kyra said: “It feels super awesome, and I am glad to be called a World Cup Champion - on the last worlds, I was neck to neck for 1st place, and I ended up 2nd, so I’m happy that this year I managed to constantly lead and triumph to get the World title. The stress and expectations were high; I trained very rigorously and put in my hardest, from daily training to a lot of stretching and cardio to get my body as fit as possible and ideal for the competition. It was also a struggle to find the perfect cut to the music and moves while I was trying to innovate new moves. I’m very happy that all my efforts paid off and delighted to have made my country proud!”

As the head of wind tunnel instructor and show performer for both indoor and open-air wind tunnels, Toms Ivans has been the world’s leading Latvian skydiving athlete in open-air wind tunnels since 2012. He is the Guinness World Record holder for the “Most body-flying stunts in a minute” and was theWorld Champion in the Solo Freestyle (Open Category) at the 3rd FAI World Cup of Indoor Skydiving 2018. Toms also works closely with the film industry by providing personal training for famous movie stars such as Mark Wahlberg and Tom Cruise, also co-authoring and coachingthe flight scenes in “Mission Impossible 6”, “Infinite” and the “Pirates of the Caribbean” show at Disneyland, Shanghai.Toms is now appointed to be both the Brand Ambassador and Chief Instructor at GoAirborne to provide regular coaching sessions for instructors and personal trainings for flyers, sharing his world-class techniques to offer the best flying experience for our guests.

“I first embarked on my skydiving journey in outdoor wind tunnels which allows me to try out more styles of different flying stunts and be creative on designing my freestyle routines. Participated in these competitions and winning two more world-class titles were another fantastic experience for my indoor skydiving career. It is very exciting to see that the sport is getting more popular on the international stage with global athletes.”Said Toms.

Skydiving has been growing in popularity in recent years, from a niche leisure activity to a globally recognised sport. TheOrganisation Committee for the 2024 Paris Olympics also proposed Indoor Skydiving as an additional event. The journeys and achievements of Kyra and Toms demonstrated clear career paths asprofessional skydivers andset benchmarks for those who wants to pursue their interest in passion for body-flyingas a skydiving athlete.
