PRESS RELEASE:
1. What inspired you to write this book?
The inspiration to write my book was 10 years that I spent working in the various restaurants as a waiter, as well as my personal affairs and problems that happened during that time.
2. Summarize your book in one to three sentences as if you were speaking to someone unfamiliar with your book and its topic.
Primarily my book presents an inside view to the secrets and dark side of restaurant business. In addition to that the main character is the person that has to deal with several personal problems like his addictions, anxieties, love affairs and demons from the past. It is presented with a first person perspective full of dark sense of humor and bitter view for the surrounding world.
3. What is the overall theme (central topic, subject or concept) of your book?
Apart of working in the restaurant I’d say the central topic is the main character (Soren) that has to deal with all different life situations, professional and personal, and he is always trying to force his own ways which not always produce good results.
4. Where does this book take place?
The action takes place in the English city-Bath.
5. Who are the main characters and why are they important to the story?
The main character is the Swedish man Soren. He is the central character who’s the narrator of the story as well. There are other characters in the book that appear mostly just for a one or few chapters, only floating around Soren. There is one character that appeared and haunts Soren for most of the book-it’s Kinga-Soren’s object of unfulfilled love.
6. Why do you think that this book will appeal to readers?
I think it’s easy to identify for the readers with Soren. He is the young man who likes to make things in his own, unique ways, he’s a rebel and he’s making a lot of mistakes like we all do. Unlike most of the people he’s ready, on the other hand, always acknowledge his mistakes and bad things he’d done. He’s a vulnerable person dealing with several personal problems, again, like we all do. On the top of that the narrative style is dynamic and Soren is always describing all the things that surround him in a honest, straightforward way, with a bit of a bitter sense of humor.
7. How is your book relevant in today’s society?
I think there are a lot of people in today’s, fast paced world that has to deal with enormous amounts of stress and other people’s expectations. The main character represents a person who’s surrounded by all the life obstacles, as well as personal problems, and he’s always willing to overcome them somehow.
8. Is there any subject currently trending in the news that relates to your book?
I think there is a lot of going on with racism and chauvinism these days. In my book there is a multiple of different nations and races present. The main character is always willing to pass the judgement about anyone he’s get in relation with but he never dislikes anyone only because of that person nationality or background. He treats all the people as individuals.
9. What makes your book different from other books like it?
The style it’s written. I was trying to write my book in a straightforward style, not being afraid to touch any controversial problems. I think the first person narrative style suits well the story too, where it’s nice to see the things from Soren’s perspective – the guy who’s got a different but deep view for the surrounding world.
10. What do you want readers to take away from your writing?
I’d like people to enjoy my book, I think it’s bitter and funny altogether. I think it can encourage some people in their own fights against their problems or addictions.
11. How did you learn about the topic? (i.e. personal experience, education, etc.)
It was because I was working as a waiter myself for a very long period of 10 years. I was a victim of different addictions too.
12. Is there a particular passage from your book you’d like us to utilize? If so, please provide.
no
