The fifth season of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) will start on July 19, at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium (Chepauk) in Chennai. After receiving clearances from the state government, the TNCA announced the schedule for the championship, with the final listed for August 15.

All the 28 league matches, plus the 4 playoffs, will be played in Chennai without spectators. All 8 teams will play in the biosecure bubble and follow the precaution measures in the 2021 TNPL season. As announced, there will be three rest days- one at the end of the group stage, and a day each on either side of the Qualifier 2 match.

Captain Kaushik Gandhi's Chepauk Super Gillies are the defending champions after winning the title in 2019. 2020 tournament got cancelled amid the Covid Pandemic. The Super Gillies has won the championship twice. Tuti Patriots, now called- SALEM SPARTANS and Siechem Madurai Panthers, have won the trophy once. The afternoon matches are scheduled to start at 3.30 pm IST and the evening matches at 7.30 pm IST.
