The acronym PCB or Printed Circuit Board is a self-contained board that has interconnected electronic and electrical components which are found in various types of devices ranging from the beepers to the pagers, computer systems to the radars etc. These circuits are produced primarily by a layer of conducting material that gets deposited on the outside of the insulating board which is a substrate.

Construction of the PCB is done in three different ways single-sided, double sided and multi-layered. Components on a PCB get connected to the circuits electrically by two different types of methods like surface mount and hole technology. In the hole technology, each component is comprises of thin leads that are passed through the tiny holes in the substrate.

Two Different Types of Printed Circuit Boards:

PCBs have copper tracks for the purpose of connecting the holes where the various types of components are located. They are designed especially for each circuit and can build the construction easier. To know more about PCB design, you should know the two different types.

Single-sided PCBs:

Single-sided printed circuit board includes just one-layer of the substrate or the base material. In this type one-end of the substrate is coated with just a thin layer of the metal that is generally copper as it is a good electrical conductor. Normally, a protecting solder mask is seated on the peak of copper layer and then the last silkscreen coat is applied on the top of mark elements.

Double-sided PCBs:

This type of PCB is most commonly used in the single-sided boards. Both sides of the board’s substrate include the metal conductive layers and the elements attach to the either sides. There are holes in the PCB let circuits on just one side that helps single side to attach to the circuits on another side. These types of circuit boards are used for connecting circuits on all the sides using two different types of techniques: surface mount technology and through-hole. The technology helps in soldering every end to an apt component.

The most common of all electronic device used at homes or any other place is a fire-alarm circuit. These circuits can prevent the fire-accidents easily.
