After several months of laying the groundwork and engaging with partners, MSM Higher Ed, a comprehensive platform for effective, modern education management solutions, reaches a new milestone with the formal launching of MSM Higher Ed Pathways — a program designed to prepare students for entry or advanced standing at multiple universities in study destinations for international education.
“The Pathways initiative offers a unique opportunity for students to begin their studies close to home and later on complete their degrees at international recognized institutions in destination countries such as Canada, USA, UK, Australia and New Zealand,” said Donna Hooker, MSM Higher Ed President.
MSM Higher Ed has forged strategic partnerships with world-class degree-granting institutions as Founding Members – Griffith University in Australia; Frostburg State University, Hawaii Pacific University, University of Charleston and Hartwick College in the US; and Queen Margaret University in the UK, among others. A total of 26 Founding Member institutions are targeted to become part of this Pathways initiative.
A Focus on Founding Members
As a global consortium, Founding Members articulate existing Pathway curriculum and will provide advice on the design and development of future Pathway curriculum, which will be delivered at MSM Higher Ed Schools or Study Centres in over 50 cities across the globe in the coming three years.
Institutions that enter into agreements to become Founding Members gain many advantages from being part of the Pathways initiative. Benefits include the opportunity to engage in a global consortium as national and international representatives, enjoy high-profile branding and increased visibility of their institution on an international scale, take part in dedicated Founding Member recruitment events and welcome a steady stream of qualified international students from diverse countries and backgrounds.
Founding Member institutions shared a few words about their partnership with MSM Higher Ed Pathways:
“Griffith University is delighted to be partnering with MSM Higher Education on this exciting initiative. We are committed to providing students with pathways that provide them with an excellent academic preparation into the University, and look forward to welcoming students to Griffith in the coming years,” said Griffith University Vice President (Global) Sarah Todd.
“Frostburg State University is looking forward to welcoming additional well-qualified international students from diverse regions of the world through this new partnership with MSM Higher Ed,” said Frostburg State University President Ronald Nowaczyk. “We are excited about collaborating with other founding members of the Higher Ed Pathways global consortia.”
“The University of Charleston is the educational home each year to students from over 40 countries around the world,” said UC President Martin Roth. “Students enjoy our safe campus, welcoming small city culture, and location in a state renowned for outdoor recreation. They thrive in UC’s small class sizes and work with caring and mentoring faculty. MSM Higher Ed Pathways students live every part of our mission to prepare students for lives of productive work, enlightened living, and community involvement.”
“As a pioneer in inclusiveness, Queen Margaret University is looking forward to collaborating with MSM Higher Ed Pathways in offering individuals from diverse countries and backgrounds the opportunity to join our distinctive academic programmes here in Edinburgh,” said Professor Richard Butt, Deputy Principal, Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. “As an outward-looking university, QMU aims to shape a better world through education, research and innovation. We believe that this partnership with MSM Higher Ed will open more opportunities for us to reach and nurture more international students.”
“Building on our long history of welcoming students from all over the globe, Hartwick College is thrilled to be a founding member of the MSM Higher Ed Global Consortia. At Hartwick, we provide every student with the ability and support to choose their very own FlightPath in this big wide world,” said Dr. Patricia Delaney, Inaugural Director of the Griffiths Center for Collaboration & Innovation and Content Manager, FlightPath Strategic Initiative at Hartwick College.
“We are excited to grow in our relationship with MSM Higher Ed,” said Hawaii Pacific University Assistant Vice President of Admissions Sara Sato. “Our university is uniquely positioned through the quality of our faculty, the strength of our degree programs, and our one-of-a-kind location at the crossroads of the Pacific, to offer an experience that no other university can. With the power of partnership with MSM Higher Ed, we will welcome more and more students to our campus as the world returns to normal.”
MSM Higher Ed Pathways: A Cost-Effective Solution
With COVID-19’s drastic impact on the international education sector, MSM Higher Ed Pathways is timely and necessary in pandemic and even post-pandemic times.
“The programs address the challenges posed by the pandemic in terms of stricter border controls with more stringent health restrictions, and the impact to disposable income of international students and their families. By making available pathway options that allow students to begin their studies in or near their home country with sure options to complete their degree abroad, we make international education more accessible and affordable,” noted Hooker.
While students are studying their Pathway, Founding Partner institutions’ enrollment management teams will be planning for their arrival.
Seeking Partners in International Education
As this initiative continues to gain traction in the coming months, MSM Higher Ed calls on higher education institutions from destination countries — Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the rest of Europe — to become part of the limited number of Founding Members and create a range of study abroad pathways for qualified international students.
Additionally, MSM Higher Ed welcomes institutions from China, India, Mexico, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Vietnam and other countries across the globe to become delivery or study centres for students who are looking to get a headstart towards their international studies.
