For the students who have taken science or PCM/PCB in their Class 11th will have to study Chemistry. Class 11 ICSE Chemistry Syllabus is very vast and students have a hard time completing it.
Chemistry paper of 3 hours duration and divided into 2 parts.
Part I (20 marks) is mandatory short answer questions, testing knowledge, application and skills related to basic/basic aspects of the entire syllabus.
Part II (50 marks) is divided into 3 sections, A, B and C. You are required to answer two out of three questions from Section A (each carrying 10 marks), two out of three questions from Section B (each carrying 5 marks) and two out of three questions from Section C (carrying 10 marks each). Hence, a total of six questions are to be solved in Part II.
SECTION A
1. Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry
(i) Precision and Accuracy
(ii) Dimensional Analysis
(iii) The theory of atoms having fixed properties in clarifying the laws of chemical combination.
(iv) Atomic and isotopic masses.
(vi) Relative molecular mass and mole. The following methods for determining relative molecular masses for the gases can be deliberated: the method of molar volume; the method of Victor Meyer.
(vii) Chemical reaction — mass-mass, mass-volume and volume-volume-based calculations.
2. Atomic Structure
(i) As fundamental particles, their charges and masses, electrons, protons and neutrons.
(ii) a nuclear model based on the scattering experiment from Rutherford.
(iii) Bohr’s atomic model.
(iv) (iv) Atomic structure: mechanical wave model-a mathematical simple treatment. Only the shape, size and orientation of s, p and d orbitals (No derivation).
3. Periodic Table
(i) Atomic number (proton number) as the basis for the classification in the Periodic Table of the elements. IUPAC nomenclature for elements with Z > 100.
(ii) (ii) Some idea of the following must be given: enthalpy of ionization, enthalpy of electron gain, atomic radius, volume of atom, electronegativity, etc. Some idea of the following must be given: enthalpy of ionization, enthalpy of electron gain, atomic radius, volume of atom, electronegativity, etc.
(iii) periodicity of elements connected to block elements s, p, d and f.
