Database definition

Databases are repositories in which data is structured, indexed and stored in files. They make this information easier to find, store, include and update.

Consequently, they enable the creation of systems that can use the information to generate reports, graphics, texts - in short, for different analyzes and different works.

There are several types of databases. As examples of a more restricted use, we have files used by an application to contain information useful for its operation, or the data in use by software with a system and spreadsheets or CAD.

Relational databases

The relational database is a tool for organizing data into tables created to semantically represent information about the agents involved in a business.

We can have tables to store customer data, professionals working in the company, items in stock, products sold - in short, all agents, personnel or materials that can be grouped in the same category, are stored and a table.

A row in a table is called a tuple. It contains an item that individually represents an object that can be a product, person or company for example. Each object has an ID that makes it unique in that table.
