In recent times, hair transplant has become a commonly adopted surgical procedure for aesthetic reasons. Complications that occur after hair transplant are actually lower when compared with other surgical procedures that people go through in the bid of looking good. Hiccups
Hiccups are actually not part of the commonest complications of hair transplant, only about 4.11% cases have been reported. Pain
Postoperative pain occurs in many hair transplant patient after the surgery. Hair transplantations done with Follicular Unit Transplant (FUT) have recorded more incidences of this because of the procedure required. Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) on the other hand, has averagely 3,000 graft procedures for transplantation which last for a maximum of 8 hours and minimum of 6 hours. Patient might also feel pains in the muscle as a result of his/her lying posture at this period.
Scarring
Portions of the scalp where hair follicles are picked (often called ‘Donor Site’) for the purpose of transferring them to the needed area of the scalp (often called ‘Recipient Site) is usually where scarring occurs in most patients, and only few patients escape this complication. FUT procedure causes linear scar on this part of the head while scarring occurs from FUE procedure as a result of the multiple and abreast punches involved. Scarring in FUE procedure is not unavoidable, all that should be done is a reduction in the entrance of side-by-side punch.
Haemorrhage
