For Every Mask Sold, the 73-year-old Dollmaker is Donating a Mask to a Senior in Need
………..
Prince George County—With the holiday season nearing, local artist and entrepreneur, Carole Brothers, is using her popular line of agape dolls and crafts to promote the Black Lives Matter cause with a special edition BLM doll and mask. Carole originally launched her website, agapedolls.com, to create a place where people could find dolls, ornaments, and crafts that reflect African American culture and values—something she had a hard time finding in the marketplace.
A Passion That Spans Decades
It was 1999 when Carole made her first agape creation, a unique paper bag doll that represented the warmth, vibrance and uniqueness of black culture. Soon, all of Carole’s friends had a version of the artist’s early doll creations and Carole continued expanding her craft, eventually launching her comprehensive website where people from all over the world could buy the dolls. Today, Agapedolls.com offers a wealth of creations, including life-size dolls, tree toppers, holiday ornaments, ribbon dolls, collector dolls, art dolls, and now a range of African-print face masks and the special edition BLM doll and coordinating mask.
“Since the beginning, my craft has been dedicated to bringing awareness to Black Culture, so the Black Lives Matters creations are a perfect fit for what we stand for.” said Carole.
