The Bachelors of Arts - Bachelor of Legislative Law (B.A LLB) is a professional degree course, which can be pursued by the students right after the completion of their class 12th examination. BA LLB colleges in India offer a five-year-long course, which is an integration of Arts and Law subjects. This particular degree is suitable for those students, who are planning on becoming a lawyer, an advocate, legal advisor, or anyone who wants to make a career in anything related to law and judiciary.
Apart from these theoretical subjects, the students are also given practical training which involves, case studies, research work and Law internships, which eventually makes the course exciting and lets the students have an interactive curriculum.
Eligibility :
Candidates who are planning on pursuing the Law Degree need to meet a few academic qualifications, and also a minimum age that has been mentioned by the Indian Law School and University. Few of the most popular law colleges in India, fix minimum requirements of marks for the students’ to be eligible to apply for the BA LLB course.
According to this, the candidates who belong to General/OBC and specially-abled category, have a secure at least a minimum of 45 per cent of marks in their 12th boards. And the minimum marks for the candidates who belong to SC/ST category is at least 40percent.
Entrance Exams:
Few law colleges in India conduct an entrance exam so that all the students get a fair chance of applying for the provided course.
Every state in India has a particular entrance exam which the students can appear for, to get admission in the respective college. Lets list down a few exams, along with the states which conduct them;
TS LAWCET: The Osmania University of Telangana conducts this exam
AP LAWCET: The Sri Krishnadevaraya University of Andhra Pradesh conducts this exam.
MHT CET: Conducted by State Common Entrance Test Cell on behalf of Directorate of Technical Education for admission across Maharashtra.
AILET: A national level examination, whose scores are primarily accepted in almost all the law colleges.
CLAT: Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level entrance exam for UG and PG law courses offered at NLUs and other colleges/ universities across India
LSAT: LSAT is an entrance exam conducted by the Law School Admission Council for UG and PG law courses. The test scores are accepted in more than 80 colleges across India.
