When ancient timber designs were replicated in the composite door format, the industry hit new heights. Finally, the maintenance struggles that traditionally came with timber as a construction material had been removed, without sacrificing the charming aesthetic that most homeowners would strive to preserve. Now even a specific design of the handle, letterbox or door pull can add hundreds of pounds to the price of a front door. And these doors can usually be delivered within three or four working days, compared to several weeks in the early days.
