October 19, 2020: LSoft Technologies is proud to announce the release of an update for Active@ Partition Recovery, the freeware toolkit for recovering lost or damaged hard drive partitions or logical drives. This latest update adds Applying Boot Sector Template to any disk sector, and all major operating systems are supported. The latest recovery kernel has been improved as well to give you the best chances possible of getting back your lost partitions intact. Finally, users of the Ultimate version will be able to take advantage of a new version of Active@ Boot Disk, which has been upgraded to WinPE based on the Windows 10 2004 release.
Active@ Partition Recovery provides three recovery modes, all of which work within Windows or, if you cannot boot your computer due to an issue with the system partition, via a recovery environment. The software also works via the familiar Windows Preinstallation Environment (WinPE), which works even if you don't have an operating system installed on your computer. Or Linux users can use the recovery LiveCD environment for a more familiar user experience. Users of the Ultimate version can also use the new version of Active@ LiveCD, which has now been upgraded to the openSUSE 15.2 Linux Kernel.
The quickest and easiest recovery method involves running a quick scan. It detects recently deleted partitions, provided they have not been formatted or overwritten following deletion. If that does not work, you can try the super scan - a deep, low-level scan that is often able to detect partitions deleted a long time ago, even if you have created new ones on top of them and formatted them. Finally, if all else fails, you can use the last chance mode to scour severely damaged file systems where it is not possible to recover the physical volume. Instead, you can recover files individually by searching by filetype signatures.
