Before talking about "Wi-Fi module and Bluetooth module", let's talk about three concepts: one is "Wi-Fi", the second is "Bluetooth", and the third is "module";

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is a technology that allows devices to access wireless local area networks; distributed in the 2.4G and 5G frequency bands, it essentially converts wired network signals into wireless signals, so that Wi-Fi devices within a certain range do not need to be wired. Access to the network, such as mobile phones connected to the router through Wi-Fi; Wi-Fi is widely used in homes, shopping malls, office areas, dining and other places, and now it covers trains and cars. It is the most widely used wireless Technology, Wi-Fi has the characteristics of fast transmission rate, stable data, and no tariffs; the latest Wi-Fi6 standard 802.11.ax, the maximum transmission speed reaches 9.6Gbps; it can further optimize people's Internet experience; in addition, Wi-Fi devices can also Used for short-range wireless data transmission;

Bluetooth

Bluetooth is also a wireless technology standard. It uses the 2.4G frequency band for data transmission between short-distance Bluetooth devices. Based on the characteristics of Bluetooth low power consumption, stable data connection and high security, Bluetooth technology is widely used in wireless wear, consumer Electronic products, intelligent control and other fields, such as Bluetooth headsets, Bluetooth speakers, smart door locks, etc.; Bluetooth is divided into classic Bluetooth and Bluetooth BLE.
Classic Bluetooth: Bluetooth for big data transmission;
Bluetooth BLE: Bluetooth with low power consumption and small data transmission;
Module

It is a collection that can complete a certain function, with an interface to connect to the external environment and an internal code program; the package of the module can be divided into pins and patches, the pin testing and use are relatively convenient, and the patch is more suitable for mass production; it can be Choose according to your own needs.
After reading the introduction of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and modules, I believe that everyone has a basic concept of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and modules. Then we will have a deeper understanding of our Wi-Fi modules and Bluetooth. What exactly is a module?

Wi-Fi module

A collection of integrated Wi-Fi chips, code programs, and basic circuits; convert serial ports or TTL to data that conforms to Wi-Fi wireless standards, with internal wireless network protocol IEEE802.11b.g.n protocol stack and TCP/IP protocol stack, which can convert The serial device is connected to the Internet;
Bluetooth module

Integrate a collection of bluetooth chips, code programs, and basic circuits; it can mesh network and perform data transmission; it is mainly to complete the data exchange between devices;

The difference between Wi-Fi module and Bluetooth module

By now, I believe that everyone already knows what is a Wi-Fi module and what is a Bluetooth module. Next, let's talk about their differences;

1. On the frequency
①. The frequency of Wi-Fi is divided into 2.4G and 5G frequency bands; the Wi-Fi 2.4G frequency band has 13 channels, ranging from 2401 to 2423MHz; the Wi-Fi 5G frequency band is divided into 5.2G frequency band and 5.8G frequency band, and the 5.8G frequency band is : 149, 153, 157, 161, 165; 5.2G frequency band needs to support 11ac, the available channels are: 36, 40, 44, 48, 52, 56, 60, 64; it is recommended to avoid 52, 56, 60 under normal circumstances , 64 channels, because of the conflict with the radar channel;
②, Bluetooth only has 2.4G frequency band; 2.402GHz to 2480GHz, classic Bluetooth has 76 channels, each channel 1MHz; Bluetooth BLE has 40 channels, each channel 2MHz, of which 37 channels belong to data channels, 3 channels belong to broadcast channel;
2. Application
Wi-Fi can directly access the network, and Bluetooth needs to be converted, so WiFi is more suitable for one-to-many local area networking, such as home and company Internet environments; while Bluetooth is more suitable for short-distance high-stability transmission, such as smart headphones; And the networking of Bluetooth mesh, especially suitable for smart home wireless control application scenarios.
3. Transmission distance
The transmission distance of Wi-Fi is longer, which can reach several hundred meters, while the transmission distance of Bluetooth is generally within 100 meters;
4. On the transmission rate
Wi-Fi: 54Mbps; Bluetooth: 2Mbps; Wi-Fi is more suitable for large data transmission;

From multiple dimensions, we found that Wi-Fi and Bluetooth actually have their own advantages and characteristics; Wi-Fi is superior to Bluetooth in terms of networking convenience, transmission rate, and transmission distance. In terms of security and convenience of networking, it is better than Wi-Fi; users can choose according to their own needs.
