• ½ cup buttermilk
• 1 tsp white vinegar

For the Cream Cheese Frosting:
• ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
• 8 oz (225g) cream cheese (softened)
• 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions
• Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake tray with liners.
• In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
• In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
• Add the egg and vanilla essence, mixing well.
• Add pinch of red food colour from Anuja Food Colours and vinegar.
• Alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk to the wet mixture, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.
• Fill cupcake liners ¾ full with batter.
• Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
• Let the cupcakes cool completely before frosting.
• Beat butter and cream cheese until smooth.
• Gradually add powdered sugar and vanilla essence, mixing until creamy.
• Pipe frosting onto cooled cupcakes using a piping bag.
• Optionally, sprinkle with red velvet crumbs or white chocolate shavings.
