LHA London Keeps Doors Open for Students Amidst COVID-19
The UK government took measures to prevent evictions in university and college halls in March 2020. While not a student residence, LHA London followed the directive and kept its co-living spaces open to student tenants as well as young professionals during the lockdown.
[London, 21/06/2021] When the UK first went into lockdown on March 23, 2020, there had been concerns about the local and international students who would be forced to stay in their rooms in university and college halls. Many students who rented lodgings in student halls were reliant on the income from part-time jobs in shops and businesses.
As these establishments closed temporarily, many students decided to leave town as they are no longer able to afford their rented housing.
The government responded to the students’ needs by imposing a three-month notice for evictions, among other things. These measures meant to find a balance between the need to make provisions for stranded students and landlords who are also experiencing financial constraints due to the pandemic.
Affordable Accommodations for Students
LHA London offers an opportunity for students and young professionals to find comfortable co-living accommodations for rent in London.
The organisation promotes co-living, but it does so while offering spacious and comfortable rooms and apartments. The London rental provider manages and leases 14 hostel buildings all over the city, all of which have been refurbished and modernised.
Student tenants can prepare their meals in shared kitchens or enjoy the buffet provided in the communal dining rooms.
All properties of LHA London follow the public health guidelines for landlords. This includes sending guidelines for self-isolating and monitoring symptoms to all tenants.
While many landlords contemplated evictions, LHA London focused on attracting students, as well as young professionals, who intend to stay in London while on lockdown.
