Playing a drum is a fun way for kids to learn about music and how to keep time. You can easily construct a drum out of household items for your children to play and learn on. They will enjoy assisting in the creation of their own musical instrument and will be proud of themselves as they learn to drum a beat.

You can make fantastic drums out of household items.

(1) An empty oatmeal box works well as a drum. Your parents can assist you in tying a string at each end of the drum so that you can loop it over your head. You can march around the drum and beat the ends with your hands or spoons.

(2) If you have a lot of empty pans or tin plates, place them on the floor. Different pans will produce different sounds.

(3) Tin cans can be used to make small drums. Coffee cans make excellent drums. Your parents must ensure that the can has no sharp edges. Place them in front of you on the floor and beat them with small sticks.

Because drumming can be done on literally anything, making a drum set is one of the simplest instruments from recycled materials.

You will require the following items:

A rusted can (coffee or beans will do)
A pencil is used.
A corkscrew
A razor-sharp knife
A helium balloon
2 skewers for grilling
Glue Scissors Colored paper
Requirements

Using the knife, cut the cork cap in half. Make a hole in each of them so that the skewers can be inserted into these two pieces of cork. Put some glue in those holes to keep the skewers in place.

Then, using the can and the colored paper, draw lines where you want to cut the paper so it can be glued to the can.

Cut the paper and use it to decorate the can.

Place the balloon on top of the can.

Finally, cut a piece of thin rope and glue it to the can's paper. This small decoration will transform your drum into a real marching drum.

Now that you've completed your first drum, you can work on some more. Use a variety of coffee and bean cans, as well as thinner and thicker balloons. The thickness of the balloons will affect the tone of the drums, so experiment with different thicknesses.

These are just a few ideas for home instruments made from recycled materials. If you have the time and energy, you and your children can create a plethora of other instruments or musical accessories.

Making these instruments with you will increase their awareness of environmental issues, pique their interest in music, and provide them with quality time with their parents. For all of these reasons, don't put it off any longer; instead, get to work and be creative.
