How Young Minds Innovate to Find Real-Life Solutions

One such marvelous example is machine learning and image processing to quantify the presence of microplastics in domestic grey water. Pranav Manoj, OMOTEC Alumni, has designed a prototype to measure the microplastic concentration in domestic and commercial grey water at the microscopic level. The government can use this prototype to govern the amount and microplastic released by various clothes. An estimated 160 trillion liters of water enter the aquatic ecosystems with 8 trillion plastic particles. It threatens the ecological balance and needs to quantify to take necessary measures. Computer Vision and Machine Learning will be used for the detection of microplastic in the images from the camera. It would also include a system for logging and monitoring microplastics in the greywater.

In another example, Aarush Mahajan from Delhi has envisioned the idea of designing an android application, Sewer Guard- the safety for manhole scavengers that can measure the presence of toxic gas and the depth of sewers. The name of this application is Sewer Guard. This Class XI student aims to make the manhole scavenging roles safer. He wants to protect the scavengers from toxic gases and chemical exposure. The prototype uses MQ sensors uses MQ sensors to measure real-time gas levels and notify users before entering the manholes. Sewer Guard will CORRELATE, CALCULATE and COMMUNICATE the gas intensity, depth and time inhaled for the worker to come out before it gets dangerous or fatal quickly.

All these unique ideas come from creative minds with the STEM education offered by OMOTEC learning kits.
