Pipe specification is a prepared document, abbreviated as' pipe specifications,' which list the specifications for pipes and their components for a particular service. It also provides additional requirements for products that go further than expectations during the design phase of the draft plan.
For specific purposes, a pipe specification gives the following meanings and instructions: model-minimum thermal expansion specifications, allowance levels etc.
Procurement–here is a list of material requirements, including heat treatment, that go beyond permissible standards.
Assembling –includes instructions on assembling, welding and mounting components on the tube system. This also speaks to methods of painting and washing.
Description: construction–description of how to prepare the designs and how to set out the factory.
In addition to being used during the construction phase, the Piping Specification Manual also allows repairs and maintenance. Since the pipe specification includes all information about a certain portion of the piping system, it is a key guide for any system changes.
One argument about the pipe spec report is that a certain part of the plant or building is specifically designed. This means that the information on one pipe specification can not extend to another section and it is important to indicate for which section the pipe spec is intended.
Unlike pipe, the pipe specifiers also provide as much precise information as possible with short codes and numbers. To optimally use the text, it is important to understand how to read a pipe spec.
For eg, the quoted line is 12-FW-1014-1CS1P in the system and instrument diagram. 12–The line's nominal tube length can be deciphered accordingly.
FW –refers to the tube contents, often called the service code. FW stands for fire water in this example.
1014 –This is the number of the pipeline, a special number category assigned to a specific section or pipe run. This information are put during the design phase.
1CS1P–This is the shorthand reference to the pipe specification number file. This document is unique, the first number of which usually refers to the pressure level of the system.
You can then go to the specific page on the paper to obtain all the required information once the pipe specifier number is found.
