[SONG RELEASE DATE: 26 AUGUST 2021] New song release “Lets Call Him” by April And The Drift

Also known for authoring original jazzy-pop hits such as "Rainy Night" and “Paperback Station” as well as other bluesy trip-hop tunes such as “Item for Sale” and their most recent release “I’m Only Dreaming” comes a new smooth blues song from April And The Drift.

With its distinctive sound of all pure minors, the listener is left with a cool, mellow and slow blues melody sure to transport you back to a 60's Jazz bar with the smell of cherry cigars in the air. “Lets Call Him" does more than justice to the immense praise it has so far received by fans and critics alike, with its own innovative contribution to today’s often very overlooked genre of blues.

"I am often inspired by the inimitable nature I observe in people I meet" lead singer-songwriter April recently said in an interview. "Everyone has their own unique story, and with this song I wanted to provide a journey for the listener to be taken through another person’s perspective and a window into the strange experience it can be to sometimes just watch and take notice of other people’s unique quirks and peculiar personality characters that’s always taking place all around you”.

She goes on to explain further "when I find myself feeling sometimes just kind of lost or lonely I find there's always more inspiration to find in trying to understand people better, not so much by the image they may be trying to convey to others by how they look on their social media pages for instance, but more through something they maybe always say or do in real life in a certain situation, which kind of defines them much better as the kind of person and people they are, if you know what I mean”.

She adds “so to answer the question of what inspired me to write this song, I guess apart from coincidentally over-hearing a blues riff, which the co-author and producer Fidel was mocking around with on his acoustic guitar on some sunny afternoon, which I felt like I could easily work and do something with, the idea of starting the song out with the story of how copy-Bobby in the hotel lobby gets away with passing his regular afternoons kind of just hit me after the melody began to get stuck in my head”. She finishes “and then it was
almost too easy to just wrap it up from there by completing the story with how other folks get away with doing their regular time or with trying to describe one of those odd things or choices I’ve seen certain people do where I’ve caught myself thinking man that’s kind of really real”. on some regular afternoon, and wanting to do something in general, you could say.
