Law is a very popular career option pursued by students at undergraduate, postgraduate or doctorate levels to practice the legal profession in our country. There’s an excellent scope for the law as a career in India because law graduates are not only required in courts but also in the corporate houses, law firms, law agencies, etc. Becoming a lawyer means putting in a lot of hard work and dedication. There are some of the top private law colleges in India for students who want to pursue their law education. Some of the most popular specializations that students opt for these days are criminal law, civil law, corporate law, cyber law, business law, tax law, constitutional law, media law, banking law, environmental law, etc.

At the undergraduate level, students can pursue five-year integrated LLB courses such as BA LLB, BBA LLB or B.COM LLB. Candidates can also pursue a three year LLM course after completing their graduation. Also, candidates who wish to study at a postgraduate or doctorate level can go for LLM and Ph.D. Different colleges across the country have different eligibility criteria for admissions at undergraduate and postgraduate degrees. Apart from fulfilling the eligibility criteria, a candidate should also possess some skills such as good intellect, a judgment of people and situations, convincing skills, strong command over the language, ability to analyze facts and argue, confidence, excellent presentation skills, and mental and physical stamina to become a successful lawyer.

Which college to choose? Private or Government.
Selecting an appropriate college is a very tough and important decision for a student, and it needs to be taken after analyzing all the pros and cons of a particular college. A huge dilemma faced by students is whether they should go for a government college or a private college. Here are some important differences between private and government colleges which you can go through to make a wise decision.

Funding
Government colleges get funds by the state government, while private colleges depend mostly on the tuition fee.

Tuition Fee
In government colleges, the tuition fee is decided after considering various quotas, incentives, and reservations of different sectors of society. The government pays most of the operating cost as it runs these colleges.

On the other hand, in private colleges, the tuition fee is decided by the upper management of the institution, and it is comparatively high as these colleges solely depend on the tuition for the operation.

Infrastructure
Private colleges are quite advanced when it comes to modern technology and infrastructure. Even though government colleges try to stay updated, private colleges are a bit ahead when it comes to adopting advanced technologies and making timely changes to the curriculum to make learning interesting.

Class Size and Interaction
The class size is less in private colleges so that the faculties can pay attention to every student individually and interact better with the class. But this is not the case at government colleges as they might enrol a lot of students in one class which makes the lectures less interactive and students might not be able to clear their queries.

Placement
This is the most crucial factor to be looked upon while selecting a college.
Placement depends on a college’s goodwill and the alumni network. Government colleges usually create strong goodwill due to which many companies prefer visiting them. Also, in the case of private colleges, they too tie-up with big multinational companies for placements.

There are many law colleges in Hyderabad and other Indian cities, both private and government. I hope you keep these points in mind and choose what is best for you.
