The moving industry has come a long way because they had to move our parents. Renting a moving truck, hiring an expensive moving company or asking for help from our friends are no longer our only choices when moving time arrives. (Okay, so maybe we'll still ask support from our friends ...) Thanks to the creativity of some transport and storage firms, we've got a new way to move: transport pods.
Pods moving companies offer the convenience to load (and unload) quickly at your own speed. Most of these moving pods (depending on available sizes) can be put on your driveway or even on a sidewalk (check your town regulations first!), making them perfect choices if you live in town or don't have a lot of outdoor room. Best of all, they can be significantly cheaper than the alternatives. (So don't always be sure to get quotes.)
However, not all moving pods are equal, so studying your options and seeing how these pods um, stack up, before reserving one, are crucial. Bear in mind that these will be dropped off at your location so try any of the smaller size pods unless you have a big yard or a very long driveway.
In an attempt to help promote this decision, below is a list of those pods that transfer companies serving most, if not all, parts of the world. If you are travelling locally, long-distance or just need room, consider getting in touch with these businesses. We have also included the sizes of their respective lightweight containers for storage and what they are made of.
