The first use is as a bleaching agent, mordant, reducing agent, rubber coagulant, and also used in organic synthesis, pharmacy and perfume. The second use is as a chromatographic reagent, preservative and reducing agent, used in the dye and pharmaceutical industries

The maximum amount is 0.45 g/kg. The residual amount of preserved fruits, bamboo shoots, shiitake mushrooms, canned mushrooms, grapes, blackcurrant concentrated juice (calculated as SO2) is less than 0.05/kg; the residual amount of biscuits, sugar, vermicelli and other varieties is less than 0.1g/kg; the residual amount of liquid glucose shall not exceed 0.2g/kg.

Application 4: Used as a bleaching agent, preservative, bulking agent, antioxidant, color protectant and preservative in the food industry.

Application 5: Used in the pharmaceutical industry to produce chloroform, phenylpropansulfone and benzaldehyde. Used as a coagulant in the rubber industry. In printing and dyeing industry, it is used as dechlorination agent after bleaching of cotton cloth and auxiliary agent for boiling cotton cloth. The leather industry is used in leather processing to make leather soft, plump, tough, waterproof, curved and wear-resistant. The chemical industry is used to produce hydroxyvanillin and hydroxylamine hydrochloride. The photosensitive industry acts as a developer.
