Experience the best Wine tasting in Italy and Spain
Your journey through Spain would be incomplete without a wine tasting event. Spanish and Italian winemaking goes back 2000 years! Over the centuries, wineries across these regions developed their history, production process, and even wine.
Spanish wine is not as famous as French wine, but Spain has bigger vineyards offering immense variety. On the other hand, Italian wine has beautiful character and flavor. Bask in the sun when you visit these places.
Chianti
The area offers the best Tuscan wine and is located between Siena, Florence, and Arezzo. Records of Chianti wine go back to the 13th century as a popular white wine. A new wine recipe was created in the 19th century. Wine made here now contains 80% Sangiovese grapes and the aged wine is referred to as 'Riserva.'
Montepulciano
Here, the wine cellar is the most beautiful in the world and is lined with huge oak barrels filled with aging wine. Here, wine tasting is always accompanied by bruschetta, Tuscan salami, and Pecorino cheese. Wine here is a deep red, medium-bodied with soft flavor to be enjoyed in their youth. Montepulciano grapes are used in the production, but recent blends include a percentage of Sangiovese grapes.
Montalcino
This hill town produces the red DOCG wine made using the Brunello grape. This winery was awarded the DOCG designation in 1980 and is home to the most expensive and reputed wines. Early records of this Brunello wine go back to the 14th century.
Beronia
This winery goes back to the 1970’s acclaimed for its Reserva Rioja and Crianza. Quintessentially Rioja, as all wines made here, is defined by the vines grown locally. They are one of the few European wineries to have the LEED certification and have the best sustainability standards. Wine production here has a distinctive style where wine is aged in mixed French-American oak barrels.
Cavas Codorniu
This is the second-largest and the oldest Cava maker, founded in 1551. Cava is the traditional way of making sparkling wine. Besides, the winery controls all production processes of the wine. Its 10 cellars were declared as a national historical monument by King Juan Carlos I. Here you can experience the original Codorniu recipe sourced from 3000 hectares vineyards.
Vina Todonia
It was made in 1877 and has a wine shop with a tasting room. They specialize in producing white wines using old recipes. The wine is then left to ferment in hand made barrels that are made on the property itself.
