Recent studies show that obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) has taken a worse turn with the coronavirus pandemic. Coronavirus is now a trigger as people feel strong urges to wash hands more carefully, disinfectant surfaces, and avoid touching anything. The self-safeguarding ways against OCD seem to trigger OCD compulsions among people. As a result, they obsessively worry about whether they are washing their hands enough or a person (who does not carry the virus) may get them sick.
Approximately, 2 to 3 million adults in the United States suffer from OCD. The number is not low among kids and teens – around 500,000 in the US. The mental health condition has been prevalent in society, but the pandemic took a toll on people’s wellbeing. Moreover, OCD symptoms can appear at any walk of life.
Considering the statistics and having been on the journey, Hoss attempts at reaching out to those who need help with overcoming OCD compulsions. Claiming himself as an OCD Warrior, he runs a website to deliver motivation and inspiration during the healing process. His blog, TheStrugglingWarrior, publishes OCD guides to help people find the best approaches and see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Hoss pens down his mission on TheStrugglingWarrior, “Join me fellow warriors on our journey to defeat this common enemy, embrace our obstacle and conquer our fears. It won’t be easy, it won’t be perfect, some days will be bad while others will be great but I promise you this if you don’t quit, if you don’t surrender you can and will conquer your fears.”
With the hope of spreading awareness and aiding people suffering from OCD symptoms, TheStrugglingWarrior wants to “motivate the unmotivated” and “turn” their “life around”. The website contains useful insights on how to deal with the compulsions, master the skills of time management, find the best therapy for OCD, and boost personal growth.
