How to find the perfect replacement pump for your Electric High-Pressure Washer Pump


Step 1: Engine shaft size and direction
First, remove the old pump and look carefully at the engine shaft. Put a micrometer on it to get an accurate measurement; don’t just stare at it. This is the most important part of ensuring you get the correct replacement pump. Most high pressure washer engines have a shaft with a diameter of 3/4”, 7/8” or 1”. Then pay attention to whether your engine is vertical or horizontal. In layman's terms, the shaft of a vertical engine is either straight up , Either straight down, and the horizontal engine shaft points to the side. Due to the oil vents, some replacement pumps can only be installed on the horizontal engine shaft, so please check our chart carefully before making a decision.

Step 2: Bolt style
Next, measure the bolt pattern around the shaft from center to center. Some electric washing machine models may have two or even three different bolt patterns around the engine shaft. The most common bolt pattern is;

(4 bolts) 2 9/16" square

(4 bolts) 2 5/8" square

(3 bolts) 7 11/16", 6 3/16", 6 7/16"

(4 bolts) 5 1/4", 3 1/4", 5 3/16", 4 1/2"

Remember, if your bolt pattern is indeed a 2 9/16” square, then a pump with a 2 5/8” square bolt pattern is still suitable for you.

In addition, if you have a vertical engine shaft and a three-bolt installation pattern, please pay attention to the orientation of the water inlet and outlet. If they come out of the front of the washing machine, you need a "front" replacement pump, and if they come out of the back of your washing machine, you need a "backward". Check the diagram below to make sure that the water connection direction of the pump you are looking at is the same as you need.

Step 3: Engine horsepower
Now that you know the size, direction, and bolt style of the engine shaft, you should know which pumps will fit your model. Some models may have up to six replacement pump options. But remember; some pumps may be too powerful for your engine to handle. If the maximum horsepower of the engine and the maximum PSI of the pump are not balanced, the pump may generate too much pressure, making your engine unable to handle it, causing it to get stuck or even stall.
